When Build Test Solutions Borrowed an Engineer

Luke Smith, the Managing Director of Build Test Solutions, needed to progress a project very quickly to get first demonstration units ready. The design had been completed internally but, for various reasons, was worked on by several different engineers over an extended period of time.

Luke needed confidence that the design, schematic and printed circuit board layout were good enough to get working demo units. He also intended to use the demo units for compliance meaning that EMC considerations also needed to be made.

The Issue

Build Test Solutions wanted to further develop their Pulse unit control system. They had manufactured and tested an initial batch of boards and wanted to introduce a faster and more accurate air temperature measurement. This involved changing the compressed air tank temperature measurement component from a thermistor to a thermocouple.

Build Test Solutions had previously been working with another design consultancy. But they no longer had the availability to provide support as their own product development was gaining traction. They quickly needed to find another partner to support them with electronics, firmware and software development. They were referred to Ignys by a local Contract Electronics Manufacturer (CEM) and by the original design consultancy.
